A LARGE FRENCH GILT-BRONZE AND SÉVRES-PATTERN PORCELAIN CLOCK GARNITURE
Late 19th Century
The clock movement striking on a single bell, with gilt-embellished turquoise dial, painted with black Roman numerals, enclosing a roundel painted with doves resting on flowering foliage, the frieze painted with a panel of two ladies and a gentleman within a salon interior, the bowed side panels painted with figures within wooded landscapes, the highly ornamental case cast with acanthus scrolls, trailing flowerheads and stylised foliage, the arched pediment centred by a female portrait mask, surmounted by a two-handled urn issuing flowers and painted with two birds amongst flowers to the front and a floral spray to the reverse, on rounded rectangular stiff-leaf cast base, the frieze incorporating a further painted panel depicting a coach and a procession entering a chateau, on turned and scrolled acanthus-cast supports
26.1/4in. (66.5cm) high;
and a pair of two-handled vases and fixed covers en suite, each painted with a panel of a courting couple to the obverse and a rustic landscape to the reverse, one cover with old hairline cracks, one socle chipped, the clock and side ornaments lacking several sections of jewelling,
the side ornaments 19.1/4in. (49cm) high, with giltwood and gesso plinths (3)
