The brass movement striking on five coiled gongs and a single bell, with floral-engraved brass dial and silvered chapter-ring, subsidiary chime/silent, slow/fast and Whittington/Westminster subsidiary dials, bearing a further silvered plaque inscribed Edward & Sons, Glasgow, enclosed by a slightly arched bevelled-glazed door, flanked by canted Corinthian pilasters carved with trailing harebell chains, the architectural pediment centred by a female portrait mask supported by acanthus scrolls, surmounted by an octagonal domed pediment with acanthus-carved canopy and turned finial, two fluted and turned finials to the angles, on indented moulded plinth
