Lot Essay

Perseus is shown seated and holding the reflective shield emblazoned with a mask of the gorgon Medusa. At his feet are trophies including the Helmet of Darkness, a gift to Perseus from Mercury.

Andromeda is shown on a wave crest holding her bonds, she is flanked by a pair of doves, probably symbolising Perseus' love for her.
