Lot Essay

This wall plaque was probably carved by W & A. Clows, the Edinburgh brothers who had undertaken all the woodwork of the Thistle Chapel and were retained exclusively by Lorimer for twenty-five years from 1892 and to whose genius in carving Lorimer owed so much.
