Lot Essay

This dresser draws more heavily upon Jacobean dresser bases, but as usual Lorimer has incorporated his own touches: the spiral-turning of the legs alternates, the drawers are panelled in French walnut and divided by plain volutes. An identical piece with a pierced and fancifully-carved back was designed for the dining-room at Gibliston.
