Lot Essay

This pair of beds was designed by Lorimer for Gibliston, one being carved with the Lorimer's arms, the other with the badge of the Auld Alliance, celebrating the ancient and close ties between Scotland and France. The restrained arches of the headboards are flanked by sober carved posts and it is no accident that the devices of Scotland and France are more prominent than the family arms.
