A pair of Kutani tripod bottle vases
with everted rims and moulded mask handles, each supported by three karako, the cylindrical necks painted and gilt with panels of a lady standing on rockwork carrying a basket of fish and a cockerel, hen and chicks among maple branches, the bodies with pomegranate roundels on grounds of dense lotus flowers and leaves -- 12¾in. (32.4cm.) high, (each with one leg restuck, one with hairline crack to neck).
