A WW2 KRIEGSMARINE U-BOAT bulkhead clock in brass circular case of churn form, bezel with locking assembly (useing winding key), centre second sweep, silvered dial, Arabic hour numerals, swastika motif above 'M' (at 9) and numbered 18844 above 'N' (at 3), black hands, lever escapement, circular-shaped movement, numbered 15778, plates of dark grey finish - dial diameter 6in. (15cm); base diameter 8in. (20cm); a small pennant with the ship's crest and named U-BOAT "U-889" and a Royal Canadian Navy photograph of U-889; and another photograph
NOTE: It is understood that the chronometer was removed from U-889 when the submarine surrendered in May 1945 to the Royal Canadian Navy. On the cessation of hostilities in Europe in May 1945 43 U-Boats were at sea. Twenty-three surrendered in British ports, four in the U.S.A. and three in Canada. The other two U-Boats to surrender with U-889 were U-190 and U-805.
