A finely carved early 19th Century fully rigged French prisoner-of-war bone model of a Royal Naval Second rate of 88-guns. Measurements overall -- 17½ x 23in. (44.5 x 59.7cm.)
With bound masts, yards with stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging with scale blocks, carved warrior figurehead, hair rails with carved rope, leaf and foliage decoration, anchors with bound bone stocks, catheads, belaying rails and pins, bitts, capstan, stove pipes, ship's bell with canopy over, companionways, hammock nettings, gratings, deck light, two ship's boats with thwarts, one in chocks and one in davits, deck rings, and upper deck guns in carriages and slides. The planked and pinned hull has finely carved stern gallery, windows and quarter windows, with royal armourial and scroll decoration and mounted on two bone supports on planked bone and horn stand.
