A finely carved and detailed early 19th Century French prisoner-of-war bone model of a 74-gun ship-of-the-line -- 9 x 10½in (22.8 x 26.7 cm)
With bound masts, yards with stun's 'l booms, standing and running rigging, carved female figurehead, anchors, catheads, belaying rails, capstan, gratings, deck rails, bell canopy, deck houses, upper deck guns in carriages, three ship's boats and other details. The planked and pinned hull has horn strakes, open gun ports and gold leaf decoration (some loose pieces, some old damages), mounted on two bone supports and a painted wood base with flowers and leaves and geometric patterns with painted pelmet surround, in original straw-work panel box with silk curtains (one missing), mirrored glass, opening doors and drop-front (some old damage and decay)
