GEORGE BERNARD SHAW (1856-1950)
A one-page autograph letter of 9 lines, signed, from Ayot St. Lawrence, Welwyn, Herts., 13th June 1939, to C.B. Hare, replying to a request for a donation: "I attach great importance to music, and comparatively none to baptism, though it is prodigiously preferable to vaccination. Therefore the font cover leaves me cold; but I will just shove a pound note into the envelope lest you should have written your friendly letter for nothing" (creased at folds, signed and autographed on the reverse by Hare).
