Lot Essay

The present fountain is based around designs for six models in lead by Louis Lerambert,. (1620-1670); executed for the Allée d'Eau at Versailles' circa 1669. In 1688 they were all cast in bronze after the lead models, four of the lead groups were transfered to the park at Marly.
