Lot Essay

This delightful teddy bear was bought by the doctors and nurses from the labour ward at the Leicester Royal Infirmant as a gift for a baby girl born on 18 December 1929. The child's Mother was a polio cripple and father was a farm labourer and sadly they could not afford a bear. Fortunately, the child captured the hearts of the doctors and nurses who all got together to purchase this teddy bear.
