the leaf of Point d'Angleterre worked with a fountain of cupid riding a a swan and with balustrades, a perched bird and flowers, the ivory sticks carved as if wound in a cord when closed, the guardsticks with backing guardsticks acting as stretchers held with silver rivets with flowerhead finials similar to the flowerheads at the handle - 10in. (26cm.), circa 1730, in 19th century box

The leaf was intended to be attached to the sticks by four rows of loops at the back which are still there
