Sheffield Wednesday won the Division 2 Championship this season with 60 points, Derby County being runners-up on 57 points.

Fred Kean was born in Sheffield on 10th December 1898 and started his football career with local side Sheffield Hallam. He had a brief spell with Portsmouth before joining Wednesday in 1920, winning his only major honour with the club in season 1925-26 when they won the Division 2 Championship. In 1928 he joined Bolton Wanderers for a fee of around (5,000 and was part of the Wanderers side which won the F.A.Cup in 1929. A gifted right or centre-half Kean made a total of nine full International appearances for England and four for the Football League
