In the 1934-35 F.A. Cup final, Sheffield Wednesday defeated West Bromwich Albion 4-2 before a crowd of 93,204 spectators at Wembley on 27th April 1935.

A West Bromwich Albion man through-and-through, Joseph Henry Carter joined the club in April 1921 and stayed there for 15 years before being transferred to Tranmere Rovers in June 1936. He played in the Albion F.A. Cup winning side in 1930-31 and played for England at full International level on three occasions and the Football League on one occasion. With Albion. he made in excess of 400 appearances for the club, scoring 145 goals (See also lots 201 and 208)
