Although uninscribed, the above medal was awarded to Robert Barclay and was won by him whilst playing for Huddersfield town. The medal is hallmarked for 1938 and as such most likely represents season 1938-39.
Robert Barclay joined Huddersfield Town in March 1937 after a successful period with Sheffield United during which he won a F.A. Cup runners-up medal in the 1935-36 final. During his stay at Sheffield United he won all of his three International caps for England and was again on the losing side, this time with Huddersfield in the 1937-38 F.A. Cup final. He retired from playing professional football after war broke out, but nevertheless managed in excess of 100 goals in almost 370 League matches prior to the outbreak of war
