The Footballer of the Year trophy, 1958, formed as a plated figure of a footballer, on rectangular naturalistic base and ebonised plinth, bearing a plaque inscribed The Footballer of the Year, presented to Danny Blanchflower, Tottenham Hotspur F.C., by the Football Writers' Association, May 1st 1958, the sides mounted with enamelled shield-shaped Union flag plaques, 10in. (25cm) high
