In the match played against Wales on 20th October 1962 at Cardiff, Scotland defeated Wales 3-2, with Caldow scoring 1 goal. In the match against Northern Ireland, played on 7th November 1962 at Glasgow, Scotland defeated Northern Ireland 5-1. In the match against England played on 6th April 1963 at London, Scotland defeated England 2-1.

The match against England played on 6th April 1963 was to be Caldow's last-ever appearance for Scotland. In the 6th minute of the match the England centre-forward Bobby Smith tackled Caldow and the full-back suffered a broken leg in three places. With Scotland down to 10 men and with no substitutes being allowed, they went on to dominate a game and were worthy 2-1 winners, with the legendary Jim Baxter scoring both of Scotland's goals
