A similar pair of vases is in the collection of East Asian Porcelain from the Collection of Augustus the Strong, see Eva Ströber, La Maladie de Porcelaine ..., Leipzig, 2001, p. 85, fig. 35.
The pair of vases in the Dresden collection is inventoried in 1721 as 'bouteille mit goldenen rothe gemahlten Straiffen ...mit kurzen Hälssen und verguldeten Mundlöchern'. The author suggests that the spiral bands are possibly influenced by the type of Venetian latticino glass of the 17th century where the white enamel threads in the glass give the illusion of a spirally swirling movement.
For a smaller pair see C.J.A. Jörg, Oosters Porselein. Een keuze uit de Verzameling van het Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, 1995, ill. 24.
In the Victoria & Albert Museum there is a similar example which has been overdecorated in Holland around 1725-35 with a Kakiemon style pattern. See Oriental Ceramic Society, Catalogue, Porcelain for Palaces: The fashion for Japan in Europe, 1650-1750, London, 1990, p. 241, fig. 264.
