The De Heere family came from Middelburg and Dordrecht in the Netherlands. This service must have been commissioned by Huijbrecht Johan de Heere (d.1777) who worked for the VOC in the Dutch East Indies from 1740 till 1763. A plate bearing the same coat-of-arms was sold in our Amsterdam Rooms, 12 May 1999, lot 208
