In the above match, played on 31st October 1931 at Wrexham, Scotland defeated Wales 3-2, with goals from Stevenson, Thomson and McGrory.
The above jersey was given to the vendor by Jimmy McGrory who played seven times for Scotland between 1928 and 1934. McGrory's goal scoring record is second to none: in 378 League appearances for Celtic he scored 398 goals and in 67 Cup appearances he scored 74 goals. He also scored a phenomenal 8 goals in one match against Dunfermline Athletic in January 1928 and he scored the fastest hat-trick in the Scottish League when he scored three goals in three minutes against Motherwell in March 1936. Surprisingly, he played just the 7 times for Scotland at full International level and he is said to be responsible for the famous Hampden roar when he scored his second goal against England on 1st April 1933. Prior to joining Celtic on 10th June 1921 he had played for St. Roch's and had a trial for Bury. In December 1937 he became Kilmarnock manager and joined Celtic in the same capacity on 24th July 1945 a position he retained until he became the club's Public Relations Officer in March 1965. He won two League Championships and four Scottish Cups whilst with Celtic.
