In the Home Championship/World Cup Qualifying match against Scotland, played on 9th November 1949 at Glasgow, Scotland defeated Wales 2-0. In the Friendly match against Belgium, played on 23rd November 1949 at Cardiff, Wales defeated Belgium 5-1, with Trevor Ford scoring three goals. In the Home Championship/World Cup Qualifying match against Northern Ireland, played on 8th March 1950 at Wrexham, Wales and Northern Ireland drew 0-0.

He started his footballing career with Powys Avenue School and then Tower United before joining Swansea Town in 1942. In January 1947 he joined Aston Villa and made over 120 League appearance for Villa scoring just short of 60 goals. He joined Sunderland in October 1950 and before joining Cardiff City he had scored 67 goals from 108 League appearances. In 1957 he joined the Dutch side P.S.V.Eindhoven and in his first season scored in excess of 50 goals. He enjoyed three successful years with the Dutch side before returning to these shores, joining Newport County in July of 1960.
