AN EGYPTIAN SANDSTONE RELIEF FRAGMENT
CIRCA 3RD-1ST CENTURY B.C.
In raised relief with a procession of two deities to the right (remains of a third in front), each holding an ankh (life)-sign down by their side, carrying a papyrus sceptre in front, wearing broad collars and long close-fitting tunics, the central figure with 'fish tail' attribute at back of her head, traces of red and black pigment, repaired, mounted

Lot Essay

It has been suggested that the central figure is Hatmehyt, goddess of Mendes, with the fish tail as her attribute.
