A HELLENISTIC POLYCHROME PAINTED VOLUTE KRATER
CIRCA 300 B.C.
The handles with moulded terminals in the form of Dionysos heads, smaller heads of Medusa on the reverse, the body with white slip and remains of pink and blue painted decoration with two horsemen in combat, and two warriors on reverse, on the neck winged Erotes and Nike in a quadriga, pierced around the front shoulder and through roundels, hollow base (to allow libations to the deceased to flow directly into the ground), with slight repair
