A GROUP OF NEAR EASTERN HARDSTONE CYLINDER SEALS
CIRCA 3100-1750 B.C.
Including three Late Uruk/Jemdet Nasr pink stone seals, one with three seated figures, circa 3100-2900 B.C.; an Akkadian greenish-black serpentine seal with two seated figures drinking from a large jar through long straws, a crescent moon above, an attendant behind; an Akkadian shell seal with a seated god being approached by three gods, a star-spade and crescent in the field; another Akkadian serpentine seal with the seated water-god, Enki, with streams of water, being approached by three gods, one carrying a branch, another carrying a standard, both circa 2300-2200 B.C.; an Early Old Babylonian brown stone seal with a seated deity holding up a cup, being approached by a goddess leading a worshipper, a crescent above, with two-line cuneiform inscription, circa 2000-1850 B.C.; an Old Babylonian haematite seal with two bull-men in contest with a lion-griffin and a lion, a frontally facing hero holding a vase between, circa 1900-1750 B.C.; an Old Babylonian haematite seal showing two figures facing a deity, a two-line cuneiform inscription reading "Adad-rabi servant of Adad", 1900-1800 B.C.; eight other seals, some with contest scenes, various periods; and a modern pale calcite seal
