AN EARLY DYNASTIC LAPIS LAZULI CYLINDER SEAL
CIRCA 2600-2400 B.C.
With two rampant crossed lions attacking two ibexes, one ibex being protected by a kilted man, a smaller scene with a man and libation vessel above an eagle with outspread wings, 1 in. (2.5 cm.) high; an Early Dynastic shell cylinder seal in two registers, the upper with two seated figures drinking from a jar through a tube, a table behind them, the lower register with two recumbent horned animals flanking an eagle with outspread wings, circa 2600-2400 B.C., 1 1/8 in. (2.9 cm.) high; an Early Dynastic or Early Akkadian blackish-green and white mottled stone cylinder seal with a hero in contest with two human-headed bulls which are flanked by two rampant quadrupeds, with cuneiform inscription, circa 2400 B.C., ¾ in. (2 cm.) high; and an Old Babylonian haematite cylinder seal showing a deified king holding a mace, facing a suppliant goddess, a solar-crescent between them above, a crook below, with three-line cuneiform inscription "Huzanum, son of Warad-Amurru, servant of Amurru", circa 1800-1700 B.C., 7/8 in. (2.2 cm.) high (4)
