A LARGE CYPRIOT BICHROME WARE HORSE AND RIDER
CYPRO-ARCHAIC, 750-600 B.C.
The bearded rider leaning back, with hands forward clinging onto the horse's mane, wearing conical cap folded down behind, the horse with neck arched back and high rigid mane, long pointed muzzle, with tapered legs, its short tail straight out behind, painted with elaborate red and black decoration, chequered motifs and stripes down the mane and forelegs
