A LARGE CYPRIOT WHEELMADE WHITE PAINTED WARE AMPHORA
CYPRO-GEOMETRIC, 1050-850 B.C.
With short wide neck with everted flat rim, vertical handles from rim to shoulder each with central twisted rope section, protruding lug at either side of join with rim, a further lug at the base of handle, with elaborate decorative panels around the neck and shoulder containing stylized rosettes, chevrons, multiple lozenges, cross-hatched triangles, chequerboard and dotted net design, divided by narrow bands of ladder motif, broad encircling bands and lines below, the flat rim decorated with groups of strokes, on small ring foot, repaired with restoration
