THREE CYPRIOT WHEELMADE RED LUSTROUS WARE FLASKS
LATE BRONZE AGE, 1650-1050 B.C.
A large 'pilgrim'-flask with circular body, twin pierced lug handles on the shoulder and single loop handle from the neck to shoulder, zigzag incision at base of handle, the short neck with collared rim, the swollen body flattened on the reverse side, neck repaired; a tall 'spindle'-flask, the body tapered to small ring base, a horizontal incised mark at base of handle, the neck with everted rim, neck repaired, both 13 in. (33 cm.) high; and a flask with circular body protruding on one side, flattened on the other, tall cylindrical neck with rounded rim, single handle, 9½ in. (24.2 cm.) high (3)

This ware very often has a sign, or pot-mark, engraved on the vessel before firing, as seen with the zigzag incision at the base of the handle on item one. In some cases potters are known to have used signs from the Cypro-Minoan script.
