A GROUP OF BASE RING WARE VESSELS
LATE BRONZE AGE, 1650-1050 B.C.
Comprising a jug with rounded body and tall cylindrical neck, the neck with collared band around the base and everted rim, single strap handle, white painted lines in triplicate down the body and around the neck, on flared foot, minor restoration, 11 in. (28 cm.) high; two 'tankard' vessels with thumb-grip spur at top of strap handle, one with encircling white lines around the broad neck and a band of chain around the shoulder, the other with a pair of encircling relief bands below the everted rim, 4 3/8 in. (11 cm.) high max.; a 'poppy-head' juglet with offset neck and everted rim, decorated with bands of multiple white painted lines, single handle, on ring foot, repaired rim, 5¾ in. (14.6 cm.) high; another juglet of bucchero-style with vertical ribbing down the body, short cylindrical neck with rounded rim, 5 5/8 in. (14.2 cm.) high; a small bowl with wishbone handle, the body tapered to ring foot, with short vertical rim, 4 1/8 in. (10.4 cm.) diam.; and another bowl with small loop handle, 4¼ in. (10.8 cm.) diam. (7)
