A CYPRIOT BASE RING WARE MOTHER SUCKLING A BABY
LATE BRONZE AGE, 1450-1200 B.C.
Of Pubic Triangle type, the female figure cradling a baby in her arms while it suckles at her left breast, with tall tapering neck and head with large double-pierced ears, pointed nose, circular eyes and hatched eyebrows, incised linear decoration indicating neck-band and the upper part of pubic hair triangle, lower body and legs missing, 4 3/8 in. (11.2 cm.) high; another Base Ring Ware mother suckling a stylized baby at her left breast, with broad pubic hair triangle, tapering legs, head restored, 5¼ in. (13.5 cm.) high; and a slender figure, similar ware, with arms curved round and hands to her waist, the incised pubic triangle with zigzag hair, feet pointing downwards, head and breasts missing, 5¾ in. (14.6 cm.) high, both Late Bronze Age, 1450-1200 B.C. (3)
