A CYPRIOT INCISED RED POLISHED WARE JUG
EARLY BRONZE AGE, 2500-1900 B.C.
The rounded body with cutaway-beak spout, a high arching handle on the back with connecting bar to the spout, the body with incised linear decoration and a protruding lug at either end, on tripod feet, spout restored, 5¾ in. (14.6 cm.) high; a Mottled Red Polished Ware bird-shaped askos, with long neck and cutaway-beak spout, high loop handle and small stump tail, decorated with hatched relief-moulded rope pattern, 5½ in. (14 cm.) high; another similar with short neck, decorated with white infilled hatched motifs, handle restored, 4¾ in. (12 cm.) high, both Early Bronze Age, 2500-1900 B.C.; a stemmed bowl, similar ware, the twin arched handles with transverse strokes, Early/Middle Bronze Age, 2000-1800 B.C., 4¾ in. (12 cm.) high; and a Black Slip Ware bowl with flat base, pierced twice below the rim, the vertical sides decorated with incised bands and vertical stripes of chevrons and connecting lozenges, Middle Bronze Age, 1900-1650 B.C., 2¾ in. Item one: ink inscription on the base reads "Cyprus, Bt. of Percy Christian 1897".
Item five: formerly in the collection of the Rev. V. E. G. Kenna, reputedly from Ayia Paraskevi.
