A RARE CYPRIOT BLACK-BOTTOMED RED POLISHED WARE BOTTLE
EARLY BRONZE AGE, 2500-1900 B.C.
With incised decoration, the black spherical body with tall red elongated neck with flaring rim, twin angular lugs at base of neck each pierced twice, with four vertical lines of hatched stepped blocks around the body, 7 3/8 in. (18.7 cm.) high; and two Black-Topped Red Polished Ware bowls, one with rounded base and single pierced lug on the rim, the body with incised geometric motifs, including concentric circles and hatched lentoid shapes, groups of chequered hatched parallel lines around the rim, the other bowl of 'tulip' form tapered to pointed base, with pinched everted lugs protruding above the rim, the body with incised semicircles around the rim and bands of zigzag, dots and wavy lines below, both repaired with restoration, Early Bronze Age, 2300-1900 B.C., 4 1/8 in. (10.5 cm.) high av. (3)
