Four famille rose armorial soup plates and a monogramed soup plate
Circa 1725-1775
the first enamelled with the arms of Mertins impaling Peck below cell pattern and a band of flowers; the second with the arms of Davis with Southerne in pretence, with a pheasant and eagle on rockwork at the centre and the coat of arms and crest at opposite sides of the border, divided by 'Valentine Pattern' cartouches; another with the arms of Crook (or Croke) amongst flower sprays with a wavy chain pattern band to the border; another with central arms below underglaze blue bands; and the last with central monogram 'VD' within floral and bamboo garland border -- all about 8¾in. (22.5cms) diam, (some damage).
