The above trophy is believed to be a miniature replica of The Huddersfield Trophy which was competed for between the top English and Scottish sides of the period. In this particular case the trophy is hallmarked for 1928 and was awarded to John Hunter as manager of Motherwell F.C. In the late 1920s/early 30s Motherwell were Scottish League Champions on one occasion; runners-up on four occasions and third-place on three occasions
