Edo Period (Early/Mid-19th Century)
The first: katabori, manju, stained boxwoood; a compact toggle representing a dragon curled in a circle with its head in the centre of the design, the himotoshi formed by natural openings in the carving; signed with incised characters on a rectangular plaque Ken'unsai (?); the second: katabori, stained boxwood; a small model of a toad squatting on an overturned straw sandal, the himotoshi formed by the tying cord; signed with incised characters in a sunken reserve Kokei (Kuwana, Ise Province)
