A FINE EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH PRISONER OF WAR BONE AND HORN MODEL OF A 56 GUN SHIP
with bound masts, yards with foot ropes and stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging with carved blocks and two long boats slung between fore and main masts, carved and painted figurehead of Britannia, head rails, catheads, metal anchors with bound bone stocks, bitts, belaying rails and pins, rope coils, deck rings, cleats, capstans, gratings, decklights, double helm and twenty-two turned metal guns in stepped carriages. The planked and pinned hull with horn main and secondary wales, retractable guns operated by stern cords with bone bead ends, chain plates and deadeyes, rudder with chains, carved stern and quarter galleries is secured to a marquetry base with bone chocks. Overall measurements -- 18½ x 25in. (47 x 63.5cm.)
