A FINE AND DETAILED EARLY 19TH CENTURY FRENCH PRISONER-OF-WAR BONE AND HORN MODEL OF A SECOND RATE (94-GUN) SHIP OF THE LINE
with masts, yards, standing and running rigging with carved blocks, dolphin-striker, carved bone figurehead in the form of a warrior, headrails with carved dolphins, catheads, belaying rails, gratings, stove pipe, bell canopy, ballustraded well deck, water barrels, compass box, capstan, companionways, decklights and twenty six guns in wood carriages. The planked and pinned hull with guns with red muzzles, horn main and secondary wales, rudder, carved stern, transom and quarter galleries and stern long boat is loosely mounted on bone chocks on round-ended dome base (lacks cover). Overall measurements -- 19½ x 20in. (49.5 x 51cm.)
