A NAÏVE BONE PRISONER OF WAR MODEL OF AN EIGHTY-SIX GUN SHIP
with bound masts, yards with foot ropes and stun's'l booms, standing and running rigging with carved blocks and two ship's longboats between fore and main masts, finely carved figurehead in the form of a classical warrior, painted bone anchor, head rails, 'netting', belaying rails and pins, bell with canopy, deck rings, pierced ballustrading around well deck, companionways, helm, decklights and twenty bone guns in stepped carrigaes. The planked and pinned 'tumble home' hull with retractable sprung guns operated from stern cords, painted main and second wales, unusual carved transom and quarter galleries and rudder with chains, is finished in black, red, blue and 'gold' and secured to a bone cradle stand (old restoration, dust, some loose rigging). Overall measurments -- 23 x 29in. (58.5 x 73.5cm.)
