Of the obverse, Patrick Finn noted 'I believe that this Halfpound variety showing the cannon as well as the arms is an underestimated rarity, and certainly I have never had a specimen for sale in my time at Spink.'
The reverse is also interesting. Morrieson originally listed only six reverse types for the Shrewsbury Halfpound, including this 'fine work' variety in type 2. The seventh reverse type he added in his revision, observing 'The variety of fine work must be given a number to itself', since the declaration reads LIBER whereas the other reverses of type 2 not of fine work read LIBERT.
