THREE GOLD COINS FROM THE BREDGAR HOARD The Bredgar Treasure Trove was unearthed in the garden of 1 Chantry Cottages, Bredgar, near Sittingbourne, Kent, in March 1940. Of the 120 gold coins declared (93 Nobles, 24 Half-nobles and 3 Quarter-nobles), the British Museum kept seventeen. L A Lawrence's manuscripts recording the hoard were destroyed during the war. The group retained by the British Museum is recorded by Allen and Whitton in The Numismatic Chronicle VII, 1947, pp.160-170. The three coins offered here were given to the owner's father by 'a grateful patient'.
