Further details
Since the Anti-Japanese War began on July 7th 1937, part of the 115th Division under the Eighth Route Army established the first base in Wutaishan, Shansi. This base extended into the Shansi-Chahar-Hopeh Area and it was from here that the Communists issued the "White Half Sun" stamps in December 1937. These were the first stamps to be issued after the Long March of 8000 miles in 1934.
