A Continental pewter guild flagon, possibly mid 17th century
the lid surmounted by a shield cartouche engraved 1648, supported by a seated lion, the tall flared cylindrical body decorated overall with foliate wriggle-work, a central cartouche supported by two lions rampant, the base inset with a medallion showing a seven petal-flower, the three feet cast as seated lions, with town and makers marks stamped to the scroll handle -- 18½in. (47cm.) high overall; and a sheet metal tankard, possibly German, the tapering cylindrical body with repoussé decoration overall -- 15 5/8in. (39.7cm.) high (2)
