Lot Essay

King Alexander I of Yugoslavia was wounded during World War I and gave this ring as token of his gratitude to Charlotte Cotillard, a French nurse working for the Red Cross, who took care of him in the hospital. She later gave the ring to her daughter who passed away in 1998, after which the ring came into the possesion of the present owner.
