Lot Essay

Over the past several years, very few fancy intense pink diamonds have come up for sale at auction. The most notable being the 7.34 carat fancy intense pink stone which sold for Sfr 2,539,750 ($ 1,498,453) at Christie's Geneva on May 17, 2000. A majority of pinks which are seen in the market have a secondary colour modifier, a variant that is generally purple or brown. This stone, however, is exceptional in the fact that it is a straight intense pink, without any secondary colour. What makes this diamond even rarer is not only the size and evenness of its colour, but also the saturation and purity of its primary colour and its flawless clarity.
