Tasted October 2000 at the French Laundry in Yountville. This vintage represents a departure in style for the DRC Montrachet. Rather than a fat, luscious, late-harvest wine, this vintage is incredibly intense and tightly wound, with a touch of the "noble mercaptan" common to young wines of other great producers such as Domaine Leflaive. I would not be surprised if this wine evolved for thirty years or more. A magnificent wine. FH
