BURGESS CELLARS
Burgess Cellars operate out of a winery, built in 1878, which lies at the foot of Howell Mountain. Tom Burgess bought this property, situated a few hundred feet above the Napa Valley floor, in 1972. Their main belief is that a wine is only as good as the grapes that go into it. This is why their vineyard locations, soils and exposures are expressed in the heart of their wines. Their innovative winemaking practices are based on the artistic philosophy of 'only adding to the grapes' and so, at the soul of their wine is the character of the grape that they carefully nourish from bud to harvest.

Winemaker, Bill Sorenson controls this process through painstaking attention to the estate vineyards, state of the art equipment, labour intensive, 'Old World' winemaking techniques, all brought together with the most modern technology. These essential elements, together with nature, produce the inherent style and superb quality of Burgess wines. The worldwide reputation of Burgess wines lies in the fact that they are always in perfect harmony, fully integrated to form a "total impression". Maximum varietal character, firm oak, good body, and long, complex finish are stressed.
