Lot Essay

With similarities to a screen (possibly the same) illustrated in publications of Belton House, including "The History and Treasures of Belton House", publ. Pitkin Pictorials Ltd, p.4 and Country Life ,1903, shown in front of the fire surround in the Tapestry Room, and probably by Gillows. Much of the Gillows furniture came from the London house in Carlton House Terrace.
