Lot Essay

The River Lledr is south of Betws-y-coed, north Wales, the old Lledr bridge being visible in the background. The environs of Betwsy-y-coed were one of the artist's favourite areas for painting between 1859 and 1889 and the rivers Lledr, Llugwy and Conway were frequently the subject of his works during this period.

We are grateful to Ruth Wood for her help in the preparation of this catalogue entry.
